Tony Swaim Recognized for Exceptional Commitment

Tony Swaim, Program Manager for the Irvine Center for Applied Competitive Technologies (CACT), was recognized for exception commitment on March 13, 2001 at the Twelfth Annual ED>Net Conference held at the Holiday Inn Golden Gateway in San Francisco, California. Mr. Swaim was recognized along with award winners from the categories of outstanding partnerships, outstanding faculty and counselors, outstanding leadership, and outstanding center directors by Ms. Kay Ferrier, ED>Net Dean of Economic Development.

He was nominated for this award based on his far-reaching knowledge of subject matter, communicating effectively, demonstrating the ability to plan and organize learning experiences, and developing and promoting college activities and business partnerships that create opportunities for lifelong learning.

Mr. Swaim's main contribution to economic development for the Irvine CACT has been in the development of curriculum and instruction of online courses in a variety of business related courses, reaching more than 5,000 students. He also provided general assistance to the Orange County business community and was recognized for development of partnerships and workforce training, and his continued service to CACT and community education since 1998.
